RIP: Elmer Lynn Hauldren, a former ad man best known for his role as Empire Carpet’s iconic “Empire Man” (often mistaken for the company’s owner), passed away today at the age of 89.
“He has made an indelible mark on advertising history with his creativity and warmth,” Empire CEO Steve Silvers said of Hauldren. “Lynn will always have a special place in the hearts of many. Our thoughts are with his family during this time.”
Aside from his successful career as a corporate mascot, Hauldren released several albums with his barbershop quartet, Chordiac Arrest.
